In many areas of the world, children have gone from being kids to commodities. From slavery and sexual abuse to organ harvesting, price tags are put on priceless lives. The words of Jesus echo loudly, "whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me..." and the warning to those who impose such treatment on children, "it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." (Matthew 18:5-6) With nearly one million children being trafficked annually, up to ninety percent of girls being circumcised in certain nations, child rape rampant on the streets of metropolitan areas, and few or no havens where abused kids can turn, we must take action.
